We held our first AGM, tested some deer netting, and that’s it. Just kidding, we did more than that. December was actually pretty productive and we still took half of it off for the holidays!
Administrative
- We held our first AGM, which was very casual but it still felt like an important rite of passage.
- We submitted our business number application by letter mail. Yes, like on a piece of paper. The CRA is a little behind the times. Oh, no that’s right, they also accept fax.
- We discussed options for accounting and bookkeeping and began a PESTEL analysis as part of a broader strategic planning effort.
- Finally, we began drafting a membership agreement and reviewed some sample policies.
Infrastructure
- We picked up a bunch of milk crates to help us organize our growing stock of pallet wood. It turns out our planks fit perfectly — very nice.
- We tested a prototype of our deer netting system. It worked terribly but we still learned things!
- We tested the garden bed replacement process which is just wrapping a second bed around the first when it starts to decay. It worked way better than expected which almost never happens. Very lucky!
- We began thinking more seriously about the drip irrigation system that we want to build and ordered some cotton cordage to begin testing it.
